Industrial cooling and power for Dubai Metro construction

Construction of the first metro system in the Middle East required innovative cooling and power solutions. Both cooling and power was required to operate the tunnel boring machine (TBM) and to maintain ambient temperatures in the tunnel for the construction workers, to ensure peak performance.

Chiller rental

Aggreko's specially designed chillers supplied cold water to cool the TBM. The TBM machine is used to excavate the tunnels through a variety of different geologies. When in operation the TBM gets extremely hot and if not cooled the drill head begins to erode.
